Week 9, Thing 23-- Summary

This class experience has exposed me to a mind boggling amount of information that was new to me. Many parts were interesting and have classroom applications, but it was time consuming with my limited computer skills. Maybe, I would have benefited more if I had taken it another time of the year. Several things were directed more to librarians and might be omitted for classrooom teacher.

Week 9, Thing 22-- eBooks

I went to World eBook Fair, but did not sign up because it costs $8.95 per year. The links I went to wouldn't open without joining and I was not that interested in the topics I found.

Week 9, Thing 21-- Podcasts

I wasn't able to find anything that I could use or that was of interest. When I opened sites, it wasn't what I expected. For example, on the Teachers Podcasts I found something about Quality Early Childhood Education, but it was someone from a university discussing their program. Guess it would take a lot more exploration.

Week 9, Thing 20-- YouTube

I signed in for YouTube and explored some videos. I found a Blues Clues video that I would like to get downloaded to use at our banquet soon, but I can't get it to download. I watched several Ikea Videos on "how-to". They were pretty silly, but might be used as for a lesson focus.

Then I went to Teacher's Tube and found a video on 10 Things You Don't Learn in Teachers College.

Now I do need to find out how to download. I have the web address, but apparently I had to upload & save the video on my computer???

Week 8, Thing 19-- Library Thing

The thing was being repaired-- so I skipped it for now.

I did finally get back to explore Library Thing. I liked it much better than I expected. Looks like a good way to find other books from favorite authors. Here is the link to my bookshelf.

Week 8, Thing 18--Zoho Writer

Zoho Writer sounds great. I've been trying to modify a document I inserted and found it took me a long time to get things done. I had trouble working with a picture, getting the color changes to print out, and several other details I tried. I'm sure the tools are there, but I just had trouble finding the right thing. This was a TAKS day so my patience isn't great!
