Week 8, Thing 18--Zoho Writer

Zoho Writer sounds great. I've been trying to modify a document I inserted and found it took me a long time to get things done. I had trouble working with a picture, getting the color changes to print out, and several other details I tried. I'm sure the tools are there, but I just had trouble finding the right thing. This was a TAKS day so my patience isn't great!

Week 7, Thing 16 & 17 - Wikis

After checking out several wikis, I found the Sample School Wiki from Westwood Schools most interesting. There were using the wiki for many different things from assignments & class notes to references for SAT prep to exchanging info with classes from several foreign countries.

Week 6, Thing 15- Copyright, Creative Commons, etc.

After reading and viewing videos about copywrites & creative commons, I realize these topics are much more complex than I knew. I did not know about the seals and icons indicating creative commons terms. I especially liked the tutorial on plagerism that is on the website http://www.ctap4.org/cybersafety/ip.htm

Week 6, Thing 14-- Technorati

I just don't see relying on the tagging on Del.iciu.us or Technorati replacing using search engines such as Google. I'm concerned about the reliability of information found on blogs (& many websites). Might be good for having students evaluate reliability of information & sources.

I'm afraid I don't understand the tagging in del.iciu.us or see the advantages to me or my classes.

Week 5-Thing 12-Rollyo

Yes, I can use this Rollyo tool. I created one for use by me and my students in foods classes and another for interior design classes.

Week 5, Thing 11--Web 2.0 Awards List

I chose the short list topic Health. I found a Peer Trainer site that forms support groups for weight loss & and exercise (4 per group). Another was medstory.com that supposedly will provide the best info on health problems. Then on healia.com I found a Nutrition & Fitness Test that I might try with my Food Science & Technology Classes. http://www.healia.com/healia/

Week 5, Thing 10- Online Image Generator

I tried creating custom cartoon with the Cartoon Maker image generator. Students would love this site. I also found the butterflies and uploaded them.
